Gophers Basketball Still Unranked in AP Top 25

The Minnesota Gophers remain unranked in the Associated Press Top 25, though the ranking does have a new No. 1.

The Syracuse Orangeman, 10-0, moved up from No. 3 and took over the Alpha position after the Kentucky Wildcats and Ohio State Buckeyes lost.

In the meantime, the Golden Gophers have won four straight since Trevor Mbakwe, the Gophers star, was lost for the season with a torn ACL. Minnesota is 10-1 overall, but failed to receive even a single vote in either the AP or ESPN/USA Today top 25 polls. In all, 97 voters are polled between the two polls.

University of Minnesota Gopher Blogger

When doing some everything-Gopher research, I stumbled across this U of M student who is, as he puts it, "an aspiring sports journalist from South Saint Paul". Here at Ticket King we love supporting everything local. Do him, and yourself (Lukas has some great content!) a favor and check out his blog. I really enjoyed reading it and I'm sure you will too. I give Lukas my blessing.

Tubby's Tipoff

I just read a little bit about, what the University of Minnesota Men's Basketball program, Tubby's Tipoff. Let me fill you in. Tubby's Tipoff is the Gopher version of "Midnight Madness" which celebrates the first day in mid-October that the NCAA permits formal basketball practices.

The Barn Doors will open to the public at 8:30pm on October 15th. Get there early as the night starts off with an autograph session until 9:00pm. Tubby's Tipoff ScrimmageThe introductions of players and coaches will begin around 10:00pm, followed by a three-point shooting contest, a slam dunk contest, and scrimmage. To be honest, I think it all sounds pretty cool.

Oh! I almost forgot, the whole thing is FREE! Be there. Here is a link to look in to the Gopher Men's Basketball Season.

The New Guy on the Block

Minnesota Golden Gopher
This is my first Ticket King college blog post. I'm the new intern and will be writing on this blog for the next upcoming months. My favorite college team is the Minnesota Gophers, hence I'm from Minnesota. I follow the hockey, basketball, and football teams closely each season. If the Gophers are out of contention or it doesn't affect the outcome, I find myself rooting for some other teams time to time. In college football those teams are Notre Dame, Boise State (constant BCS underdogs), and Iowa (sibling is an Alumni, I know, I know).

In college basketball I pull for any team that comes outside the NCAA powerhouse programs (Duke, UNC, Kansas, UCONN), as you can imagine I was cheering for Butler this past March Madness. In college hockey, I am an avid Gopher Hockey fan that will occasionally cheer for another Minnesota team if they are making a run in the Frozen Four (Bemidji State in 2009) as opposed to an East Coast team. Overall, I'm a passionate college sports fan. It's fun cheering for athletes that don't get traded, get paid, or released because of salary cap issues. It's hard to beat the college atmosphere involved in the sporting events, it's one of the best type of sporting events to attend.
