Steve Williams Let the Cat Out of the Bag

All over major and minor sports broadcasters has been the news that Tiger Woods relieved Steve Williams of his caddie duties after a 12-year long relationship.

Not as published have been the interviews Williams has conducted since. Williams, a native of New Zealand, has delivered his thoughts on the dismissal. Apparently Williams has lost "a tremendous amount of respect" for Woods despite being "prepared to hang in there through thick and thin." Williams went on to discuss how loyal he was throughout the Tiger Woods cheating scandal and how he thought that loyalty had been anything but repaid, "I'm a very big stickler for loyalty and I stuck with Tiger through his difficult period..."

You're kidding. Did you REALLY just accuse Tiger Woods of not being loyal? You're blowing my mind here, Williams. Ground breaking. I'm sure your declaration is news to Elin Nordegren as well because Woods always seemed faithful to her.

"You could say I've wasted two years of my life." Looks like Elin has got you beat again. Tiger wasted 6 years of her life.

Listen, until you have something new to say, stay out of the news Williams. We all saw this coming in one form or another.

Three-Peat

The Minnesota Twins (15-27) are one game short of reaching their season-high of four consecutive wins. I say that for those of you who have stopped watching... those of us who have remained faithful couch potatoes perched in front of the flat screen know the Twins have just won three in a row.

The former group of bandwagon, fair-weather-fans should be ashamed of themselves.

The Twins are left, barely above water, with 15 games below the break-even mark. They also hold a minus-81 run differential with the next-worst team boasting a minus-53. The Twins have the games largest division deficit at 12 1/2 games, the fewest home wins and an offense that regularly scores three runs or less. Yes, the Minnesota Twins have the worst record in the American League and, just as you would expect, none of us hard-working Minnesotans feel bad for them.

However, the Twins hold an attitude that says their last place, sub-par status is anything but permanent. You fans that have bailed, joined the Indians' bandwagon, maybe started following Tiger Woods' impending demise... be ashamed. When Morneau starts hitting regularly, Nishioka can walk on both his legs, Mauer plays and Plouffe starts consistently making throws within this zip code... you'll be the ones with your heads drooped, avoiding all eye contact. You'll be embarrassed at yourselves.

I, probably more than anyone I know, am excited about this potential season turnaround, but I also understand this isn't the most important Twins news.

Harmon KillebrewHarmon Killebrew. No matter how well the Twins are doing, how well or poorly they finish, we will always remember this season as the season that baseball lost one of the greats.

Killebrew didn't give up his fight with cancer easily and we should take a page from his epic book. When times are tough, take hold of the deepest strength you can muster and push forward. Take tough times in stride and be the most admirable person you can be.

Remember Harmon Killebrew. Play for Harmon Killebrew. Win for him.

Favre the (Un)Faithful

Brett Farve Texting TroublesThere are two types of people in the world. Those that have heard about Brett Favre's alleged infidelity and those who haven't because their head is in the sand.

I am addressing those who have, the latter are a drain on society and need to get a clue.

Personally, I don't care if Brett Favre has an affair, or sexts, or sends naughty naked pictures... unless I am not on the recieving end of those delicious innuendos. Ooops... about that. Seriously though, who cares? Brett Favre is a silver fox that just so happens to have recently thrown over 5oo career passes for over 70,000 yards... yet we, the highly educated public, care about his indiscretions? We would.

With Brett Favre potentially joining the likes of Tiger Woods (when he said, "Just Do It", I misunderstood the directive), David Letterman (who broke word of discretions himself and is simply too funny to be upset with), Jon Gosselin (how, with his pudgy, balding, Ed-Hardy-sporting frame, he can get girls is beyond me) and Sandra Bullock's husband (no one knows his actual name... or cares), I see it more as a chance for myself to become the homewrecker everyone loves to hate than a reason to hate him. If thats what it takes for me to get in to Brett Favres jock strap, I gladly accept the terms.

On a side note, all the press Brett Favre is receiving is worrying an NFL team. I would have assumed the Vikings too, but no, the New York Jets are concerned that their reputation may not come out of this hot mess unscathed. In fact, the Jets could be sued for providing a hostile work environment that led to sexual harassment. Hostile? Hardly... I think they were looking for "erotic". Not everyone can be a wordsmith. Work environment? Who are you kidding, the Jets were 9-7 during their 2008 season, whatever work environment was attempted, failed. Perhaps, a work environment didn't exist at all if everyone was out frolicking in company incest. A word of advice, Jets, enjoy your 2010 season because, for you, this will blow over; you don't have to worry about Mrs. New York Jets getting jealous anyway. For Brett Favre, he will live with this reputation forever...

Cheaters never prosper? Bullshhhhhi*.

I dedicate this post to my lifelong friend, Mara, for she too has troubles staying faithful to her men. Mara: if you ever find yourself straying of f the path of discretion... think: what would Brett do. You can be faithful when you're dead. Stay strong girrrl.
