Classes for Fall Semester 2013

My schedule for Fall Semester 2013 is about to be packed! I'm taking 4 classes (16 credits, average), working 24ish hours, and involved in way too many extracurricular's (gotta build that resume).

I'm still rushing to squeeze in my COJO major and Spanish minor so my classes are as follows (if anyone cares):

Family Communication
Ad Copywriting
Public Relations Writing
Latin American Culture

I'll be working at Ticket King on Tuesday and Thursday mornings and Friday afternoons; you better come visit me!

It's about to be a great senior year, and I can't wait to keep you updated on my blog :)

Goodbye to my Dearest Sister

I'm the oldest child in my family and when it was time for me to head off to college, I did so without a blink of the eye. Okay, maybe not completely true, but it was the end of summer, I was sick of a 1 AM curfew, and I was ready to get my butt to college to make some new friends and become independent. I did miss my family, but I was only 30 minutes away from my home in Shoreview and my Dad works 10 minutes away (downtown St. Paul) and likes to take me to lunch, so I was able to cope.

However (doesn't every story like this have a however?), now that it's my sisters (read: best friend) turn to head off to her first year of college (in a week from today!), it makes me teary eyed for many reasons:

1. We are all growing up. My little baby sister is already a freshman in college??
2. I only have ONE year left of college! Better start applying to Grad School so I can continue the best years of my life...
3. Ellie (said sister) is about to have a fun new life where she will meet a million more people and have an awesome college experience and leave me in the dust. Now, I know she won't but she already is in love with her roommate (who she calls "my girl") and texts all the people she met at her orientation.

The good thing is she's only going to the University of Minnesota, which is a short bike ride, easy rollarblade, and HUGE run from St. Thomas, but I've done it! Her dorm is right on River Road and it will so easy to see her. Also one of us will have a car and we already have made a pact to see each other TWICE a month. So we should be fine. I'll keep you updated with posts and news of our long distance relationship ? Is ten minutes long distance? Seems like it!

A List of Upcoming Things I am Excited For

It's super awkward that it's already August and the thing on the top of my to-do list is buying books for my fall semester. Sad face. AHH where did this summer go? Don't get my wrong, I have had a great summer; it's been perfect being 21 and being able to frequent the bars, I took a few trips (Grand Marias for the fourth, backpacking in Colorado with my family, visiting my bestie in Iowa City, and a few trips up to our cabin on Lake Vermillion), and spent my week days working at good old Ticket King St. Paul.

I don't want this summer to end because, virtually, it's my last actual summer before the real world. I hope to graduate St. Thomas with a job secured. However, even though I'm looking nervous for the future, I'm already making a list of upcoming things I'm excited for! Keep on reading....

-Vikings first preseason game on Friday night. You bet I'm going.
-My fall and second to last semester at St. Thomas. I'm taking four great classes where I know I will learn skills necessary for my future life and career. Plus, I hope to narrow in my career options. As of now, I'm thinking about going into advertising, but my interests honestly change every day!
-Tommie Johnnie football game. Duh.
-This is so far in advance but J-TERM! I finally told my parents I was accepted into the Pilgrimage in Italy - J-term 2014 though St. Thomas, which is a huge deal since there were over 200 applicants and only 20 get to go! I was ecstatic when I heard but was nervous to tell my parents. However, they are super excited for me and said yes!! I'll be traveling to Rome, Assisi, Florence, Siena and some other small cities in Italy and I simply CAN'T WAIT!

Even with all these fun things coming up in the fall, I'm still going to finish out the summer strong!! Keep reading my blog to see what I'm up to :)
