Joe Mauer Upset over Injection Revelation

Gardy talked about the injections that Mauer has gotten in his knee and the $23 million man wasn't happy about it.

I am very happy the Twins re-signed Joe Mauer. I think the Pohlads have really picked up on the whole, 'you need to spend money to make money' thing. But I do think Mauer needs to relax. He is worth $23 a year. People are going to want to know what is going on in his life; they want to see a return on investment.

Joe MauerWhile I can appreciate privacy, Mauer is a hot topic and that privacy isn't going to always be achieved. He is lucky that he is as relatively boring as he is anyway - he never reveals anything about himself to the press so he can't be surprised when something like this gets out that people go crazy. Its the law of... craziness.

Mauer is the face of the franchise and needs to accept the unfortunate fact that there will be people with unrealistically high expectation about his average, games played, position played, and public relations. It is just the way it is; we have a right to expect a lot from Mauer for $23 million per year. And Mauer needs to accept that some of our expectations will be unreasonable and all come with the gig.

CC Sabathia Lost 25 LBS

CC SabathiaCC Sabathia lost 25 Lbs during the offseason. He has stated that his stamina is much better and that he isn't getting tired anymore. Looks like there is going to be less of him to beat this year.

Here is where I talk about how great the Yankees are going to be this year.

Here is where I feel bad that Russell Martin replaced Posada. Poor guy.

I should say something about Derek Jeter and A Rod because they are completely amazing.

I will never give up on the Twins. I love them. We are going to beat those guys this year and I am going to be there to see it... no matter how much I have to pay for a ticket. I am so sick of hearing about the Yankees. Let's start talking about teams that actually have morals.

In other news, Miguel Cabrera is still wasted.

Sharing my Spring Break with the Minnesota Twins?

I've been up and down about my travel plans for Spring Break. I'm trying to best manage my finances and my fun. The practical side of me (which is probably more than 50%) is suggesting I just stay home, pick up extra shifts at Ticket King and catch up on sleep... while working ahead in homework.

The side that wants to party really, really wants to pack up the one bag that flies free and head on down to Ft. Myers to see my Minnesota Twins play the Boston Red Sox during spring training.

Hammond Field, Ft. Myers
I'm torn. I love the Twins so much. Not to mention I am still reeling from all the season tickets being sold out after finally convincing my Mom to buy them for me. It has been a rough pre-season for me. Basically, I need my Twins fix and I need it now. Like any good addict, the practical side rarely wins out.

Thanks for listening, I'll see you at Ft. Myers.

Probably. Well... I'll let you know.

Miguel Cabrera Loves His Scotch

Miguel CabreraWell... Miguel Cabrera is giving Charlie Sheen a run for his intoxicated money.

Miguel Cabrera was arrested late Wednesday on suspicion of drunk driving in Fort Pierce, which is about 110 miles southeast of where the Tigers hold spring training. Allegedly during his arrest, Miguel took a large swig from his BOTTLE of Scotch... right in front of that Po-Po. What... a stud.

Another big shocker was that he wasn't at camp today. No kidding. Have you ever drank straight scotch all night and made any obligation you planned for the next 24 hours? Doubt it. Apparently Cabrera is very embarrassed... and I must go so far as to say he is very hungover as well.

Lucky for Mr. Michael (Miguel in English =) ), Jim Leyland has his back. Leyland said that Miguel's events would not affect the team whatsoever and that he knows "for a fact" that Cabrera is in the best shape of his life. It is debatable as to how much the words of Leyland are worth though- he is delusional: the Tigers plan to win the AL Central title.

Umm... Remember those Minnesota Twins? They are planning on it as well. See you at the finish line. Lucky for us... we can easily walk that line while simultaneously holding your finger to your nose. Man... hate those sobriety tests.

Minnesota Twins Sign Delmon Young, Pitchers and Catchers Report to Ft. Myers

The Minnesota Twins avoided arbitration by coming to an agreement with Delmon Young for a one-year, $5.375 million contract.

Young batted .298 with 46 doubles, one triple, 21 home runs and 112 RBIs in 153 games played for the Minnesota Twins in 2010. Young led the Twins in hits, doubles and RBIs. With 46 doubles last season, he tied for second-highest single-season total in Twins history.

Joe NathanWith Young signed on for another year, pitchers and catchers can head in to Spring Training knowing there is a strong infield waiting to support them!

The Minnesota Twins went through their first workout today at the team's spring training complex in Fort Myers, Florida. Joe Mauer worked with several pitchers including Joe Nathan, Kevin Slowey, and Anthony Slama during their first day.

Joe Nathan looked good throwing from the mound. Pitching coach Rick Anderson commented that he has never seen Nathan in such a relaxing and loose form.

I CAN'T WAIT UNTIL BASEBALL SEASON!!!!

Counterfeit Tickets Not Available from Ticket King

Recently, several individuals have attempted to take advantage of loyal Minnesota Wild fans by selling them counterfeit tickets to the games they love the most. While this is obviously upsetting to fans, it is also highly disturbing to ticket brokers like Ticket King, who stand for the best customer service possible.

We at Ticket King want to make sure all of our customers know that we routinely check where our tickets are coming from - you should feel safe buying from Ticket King because you are safe! Andy Pettitte Retires

One Yankee down, 3 more to go before we can finally put the 1996-2000 seasons out of memory. Andy Pettitte confirmed his retirement, leaving only Derek Jeter, Mariano Rivera, and Jorge Posada the remaining members of the Yankees teams that won four championships in five seasons between 96-00.

Pettitte said his heart just wasn't in it. I'll tell you why. Diminishing Marginal Utility. In economics, diminishing marginal utility states that as a person increases consumption of a product, there is a decline in the marginal utility (happiness) that person derives from consuming each additional unit of that product. Apply that to Andy Pettitte: As Andy increased the amount of Championships won, there was a decline in the happiness he received from winning each additional Championship until the idea of winning another Championship promoted little to no happiness in light of the effort he would have to put forth to earn one. While this is just a theory, can I say, "must be rough."

While, from what I read, I can see that Andy Pettitte is a pretty classy guy, he is still a Yankee to me. You know how that saying goes... Minnesota bias. Or... is it Minnesota nice?

Andy Pettitte

Another one bites the dust.

Puppy Bowl Makes Vikings Fans Happy (Relative to the Super Bowl)

The Super Bowl wasn't the only thing on TV Sunday, 6th. The Puppy Bowl, which consists of little more than adorable puppies running around on a small indoor football field, yielded 9.2 million views on Sunday. Turns out Man's Best Friend has found another way to soothe a persons soul: watch the puppy bowl if your team hasn't made it to the Super Bowl!

As a long-time dog lover, I strongly urge you to check out the Twin Cities Puppy Bowl website (http://twincitiespuppybowl.com/) and vote. If I may be so bold, I also think you should vote for my personal favorite: CLAUDIA as the MVP!

Check it out. If nothing else, those of you that bleed purple and gold will find a small piece of your day not dedicated to revengeful thinking and the reminiscing of the glory days.

This is what I get to come home to. Foolish huh?

Life Update

This week, for me, is mega-stressful. I will be taking my LSAT exam this Saturday. I have been studying for this beast for a little over two months now with an average of 2-3 hours a day. And it all comes down to Saturday.

When I go to sleep at night, my dreams are filled with logical reasoning, logic games, and reading comprehension. I am continually analyzing arguments, making deductions, short-handing formal logic, and reading strategically. Basically... I am going crazy.

Please, wish me luck!

Before you feel too bad for me, I turned 21 on Sunday. Yes, Super Bowl Sunday! My birthday was pretty low-key because I am actually renting a party bus to celebrate my birthday and the completion of my LSAT on Saturday. My friends and I will be roaming the bars of Minneapolis and St. Paul Saturday night. This sounds like a plot parallel to that of "The Hangover".

I'll have the details for you soon!

Ozzie Guillen

I would like to take the time to point out that Ozzie Guillen, the Skipper of the Chicago White Sox, is on twitter. If you have ever seen an interview with Ozzie, you must be feeling as intrigued as I was. This guy is a little bit of a fruit cake, but always worth a laugh.

Here are some recent tweets from Ozzie:

Que raro beisbol en puerto rico.

No pierdan su tiempo en mi recentidos sociales ignorantes sin trabajo.

You so friking good.

Please let me have the oportunite.

Is to windy.

Sorry people this is bad crazy oh my god.

Sport keep the country very high espcial. Vegas cazquez and more more people great example.

... And, the best for last:

What's wrong we ours society iam seat at home watching tv and most of comercial is to loose weght and diet plesae people.

HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAH! Between the Spanish tweets and the mispelled words, the missed grammer points and the doubled up words, I decided to 'follow' Ozzie. This guy is HILARIOUS! Plus, helps me brush up my Spanish skills since my best estimate would dictate that 90% of his tweets are in Spanish.

I like you Ozzie, I really do.

Justin Morneau is Making me Worried

Justin MorneauHeadline after headline has been assuring Twins fans that Justin Morneau is making steady progress towards taking part in Spring Training and returing as a fully funtional player of the Twins this 2011 season. I'm not so sure if I buy it.

Certainly Morneau has to be on the minds of more fans than just myself. While I understand the benefits of avioding complications and taking it slow, it seems to me that Morneau should be hitting against some net in Florida or Arizona or somewhere by now. I want to hear about him taking some swings... not about... "oh yes, Justin took his first steps today." That doesn't interest me.

Don't get me wrong, I have the ultimate respect for Morneau. I believe he is completely dedicated to the Twins' Organization. I just wish we were hearing more good news. The Twins are a better team with Morneau in the line-up. Let's get it done.

All I want back is Justin Morneau - the pre-concussion version.

Brett Favre Voted 'Most Hated' in 2010

He has done it again. A week in the news isn't worth two cents if it doesn't include a headline about Mr. Brett Favre. This week hasn't let down a single rabid reader. Hollywood Reporter polled a random amount of people about who they hated the most this 2010 NFL season.

The results came back with Brett Favre as the most hated player in the NFL for 2010.

Before I delve deeper, you should know the top five most hated/bottom five most loved:

Vikings QB Brett Favre
Eagles QB Michael Vick
Patriots QB Tom Brady
Steelers QB Ben Roethlisberger
Cowboys QB Tony Romo

Now, let the ranting begin. I guess on a hatred scale of 1 - 10, allegedly sending nudey picks of your junk to a reporter who may or may not have loved it, is a '10' whereas murdering dogs in cold blood is eh... an '8' on a good day. Makes sense. Let's fully hate Favre while what... Vick is in the doghouse? I can't believe this.

Furthermore, just because Tom Brady is a good looking guy who can throw a ball we should hate him out of jealousy. So let's just hate him. And let's make sure we hate him more than Ben Burger who allegedly forced sexual relations on an underaged drunk female in a sketchy bar. Are you serious??

As for Tony Romo? I'm not sure what he did to garner so much hate. I kind of forgot he existed.

You know who I would like to see on the list? Jay Cutler. Does anyone like him? It used to just be people outside of Chicago. Then he hurt some really important part of his body and skipped out of the Bears/Packer NFC Championship game. Now everyone in Chicago hates him too.

I'd say this is the kick-start America needs to sort out of extremely irrational priorities. This is completely ridiculous. Get a grip, America.

Ben Roethlisberger

Ben just being a stand-up, classy guy. Nice shirt.

Twins to Retire #28, Pick up Former Royal

The Minnesota Twins will immortalize Bert Blyleven's jersey number this 2011 season. No. 28 will be retired on July 16th, just eight days before he enters the Baseball Hall of Fame in Cooperstown, New York. (makes me hate the Yankees even more when I have to write about New York).

Blyleven won 287 games in his career and ranks 5th in MLB history with 3,701 strikeouts. He will join Harm Killebrew, Rod Carew, Tony Oliva, Kent Hrbek, and Kirby Puckett who have all had their respective numbers retired.

Dusty Hughes, the left-handed pitcher, was claimed off waivers by the Minnesota Twins. Last year, he played in 57 games with a 1-3 record and a 3.83 ERA for the Kansas City Royals. Quite a feat since the Royals only won five games.

Hughes' first win came against the Chicago White Sox on May 14th-- I like him already. And still hate the White Sox.
